Queen Anne Revived

My designer friends at Rugs To Rafters offered me this little refinish job. This timeless Queen Anne console needed to fit in a newly remodeled home but because the piece had sentimental value, it had to stay but look purposeful. The recommendation was to have it painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove with bronze pulls. The challenge was offered up to me and I accepted.

I got a nearly perfect match to White Dove by mixing Annie Sloan Pure White with gradual amounts of French Linen. This table took nearly half a can of the white. I mixed it a separate plastic container, enough for the project so I would not have matching issues. I elected to sand this piece quickly with a coarse grit because it was so glossy. The console took 3 coats of the paint with some touch ups after, and 3 coats of soft wax brushed and buffed.

I used a 600 grit sandpaper wipe between all coats of paint and wax. The client did not want any distressing or aging on the piece so I used clear wax and installed inexpensive, stock pulls from Lowe’s.  The finish was not without brush marks as I had hoped but still smooth and buttery to the touch. The finished look is a sleek and modern twist to a timeless classic. Can’t wait to see it in the home!
